All donations and membership fees are used to fund the ongoing expenses being incurred in retaining legal, planning and other consultants, as well as media, public outreach and other miscellaneous expenses.
Your donation will fund the legal battle ahead
All donations thus far are from individuals, not corporations. There will be years of work ahead to defeat this quarry proposal, inevitably culminating with an Ontario Municipal Board hearing. The hearing in front of the OMB will require paid-for lawyers and consultants to present the evidence against the quarry, and to challenge the case put forward by The Highland Companies. This effort will require a great deal of money, and the money raised through donations will be used for this purpose. Notwithstanding that we are in the early stages of the application process, and the timing of an OMB hearing (if required) is uncertain, it is important that we raise sufficient funds at the earliest possible time, meaning starting now, to create a war-chest to ensure that our consulting team is able to lay the groundwork for a successful case at the OMB.
