Survey on Our Proposal Regarding Strada Aggregates

NDACT Community Survey on Proposal to Strada Aggregates

Thank you for attending our webinar on Saturday, January 15, 2022.

Key Components of the NDACT Approach:

  • Strada to hire a Community Trusted Consultant and make them part of the Strada application development team
  • NDACT will be this community’s Communication Conduit to Strada for the duration
  • If the Community Trusted Consultant agrees with the science behind the application studies and should that science deem the application viable, NDACT is prepared not to challenge the application when it is filed
  • As part of NDACT’s agreement not to challenge the application NDACT would require specific funding commitments from Strada to this community
  • Strada has communicated that if the science is not solid, they will not continue with their quest - we expect them to keep their word. Should Strada still pursue an application for a quarry NDACT would fully engage in opposing such a quest January 15, 2022

To solicit input from community and stakeholders to NDACT on their proposed strategy with Stada Aggregates on their plans to quarry below the water table in Melancthon, we are conducting a short, 2 question survey

Assessing the Impact of the Melancthon Quarry

In April 2012, the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) published a rersearch paper about the Highlands Proposed Melancthon Quarry and the Impact it would have.

Although it is 10 years later and a different company has shown interst, many of the principles remain the same.

This is a good read to familiarize your self with the quarry application process and what we are up against with this possible proposal by Strada Aggregates as presented to Melancthon Council in August 2021.

Take a look at the OFA research from the past.
